Aiken Audubon Society

Aiken Audubon Society is the local Audubon chapter serving the Pikes Peak region. Its mission is to promote the enjoyment, study, and conservation of local birds.

Aiken Audubon offers birding field trips, educational programs, monthly presentations, a book club, conservation opportunities, and other ways to connect with the Colorado Springs birding community. Our Wild Birds Unlimited team is proud to be actively involved with Aiken Audubon, including having staff members serve on its board.

Colorado Birding Trail

The Colorado Birding Trail connects birders and wildlife watchers with destinations across the state. The Pikes Peak route features Colorado Springs-area locations such as Garden of the Gods, Ute Valley Park, Sondermann Park, and the United States Air Force Academy.

Bird Conservancy of the Rockies

 

Bird Conservancy of the Rockies works to conserve birds and their habitats through science, education, and land stewardship. Its programs offer opportunities to learn about bird migration, conservation research, and bird banding, including work at Chico Basin Ranch southeast of Colorado Springs.

Accessible Birding with Birdability

 

Although Birdability is a national organization, it works to make birding and the outdoors more welcoming, inclusive, and accessible. The crowdsourced Birdability Map provides information about the accessibility features of birding locations, helping visitors plan outings based on their individual needs.

Heather, one of the owners of Wild Birds Unlimited of Colorado Springs, is proud to serve as a Birdability Captain. She has spoken on panels about accessible birding and organizes Birdability Week outings and activities in Colorado Springs each year, helping make birding more welcoming and inclusive within our community.
